It's International Women's Day!

Shout out to inspiring women writers! Today's writer I'm thinking about is Lauren Wilkinson, author of American Spy: a Novel. As I mentioned in my February newsletter, Wilkinson has written a fascinating Cold War-era spy novel about a woman going on one final mission to give both herself and her twin boys a chance to be free from the dangers of her previous ties. There are interesting and nuanced discussions about race, Cold War-era politics, spies, families, and the secrets and lies we tell ourselves in the name of both personal and political freedom.
