Research Trip!

Summer was a good time to do some book research. In my case, that meant traveling. I went to Amsterdam, Denmark, Sweden, and a country not to be named so as to avoid any spoilers. I spent a fair bit of time in the south of Sweden, which will have an important role in an upcoming book. And even though I was not in great shape due to a bout of norovirus, I still had a good time scouting.

One stop was to the Maritime Museum in Karlskrona. There, you could enter a submarine (above ground, mind you), which was pretty cool. I've been a little to spoiled by watching movies like The Hunt for Red October, because the first thing I noticed was how very little space there was inside. Everything was extremely thoughtful and economical (space-wise). There was just enough room to do your job, and not any more than that.

There was also an exhibit dedicated to the cold war. It was really interesting to read about America's role from a Swedish perspective. One side of the exhibit discussed the US and the opposite side addressed the Soviet Union.

It was a great place to do research. I can't wait for you to see how it plays a key role in one of Katrina's upcoming adventures. If you're ever in Karlskrona, I highly recommend a visit!
